Glam Glow or Sham Glow?

Glam Glow or Sham Glow?

I’m sure you all heard of the brand glam glow. The very popular (expensive) face mask. They have a lot of different types of masks for different use e.g. Youth, firming, hydration, brightening etc.

Now the most popular one is the youthful mask (black tub). I have heard and seen a lot of  people and some celebrities use it and say it’s amazing, but I never really bothered looking into it as it is one the pricey side, for just a face mask, but my sister changed my mind.  She has been raving about it for some time and said it was worth it. She convinced me to try it out.

I did a bit of digging and decided to try some of the range. Lately my skin has been behaving (Alhamdulilah) so I didn’t want to use anything harsh. So I first bought the brightening mask (orange tub). It is meant to be great for people who have dark spots, uneven skin tones or even dull skin. I got it mainly for my dull skin. It states to use it three days in a row then three times a week after to see a difference.

Firstly I paid £14 for the travel size tub. Which gives only 15g of product. That’s nearly a pound a gram. The packaging is clean and sleek. It is nice and lightweight but I personally think, the packaging is bulky and when you look at it from the outside it looks like you’re getting a lot of product but when you open it, it’s a different story. The texture of the mask is a scrub like affect, it has tiny beads which is great for exfoliating the skin with. I am someone who does not like really strong fragrance beauty products. Fortunately the mask has a subtle but refreshing touch which to me is do-able.

My first use I would say was pretty good. I liked it a lot. It wasn’t a messy experience as some mask can be. It smelled fresh and had a hint of orange and has tiny beads in the mixture, which is a great way to exfoliate the skin when washing it off. The instruction does say to leave it on for twenty minutes, I did leave it on for much longer and it did not affect my skin in a negative way, like other brands do. I think it will be suitable for all skin types. Overall I did really like, but it was slightly to harsh on my skin.

At the time I was suffering from really bad dry skin. I tried numerous creams and oils and nothing seems to keep my face hydrated. And yes I do drink at least 3 bottles of water each day (well try to). I knew that glam glow has a face mask specifically for hydrating the skin (blue tub). This intrigued me, so I decided to purchase it and try it out.

Brightening Mask

The smell is refreshing, not too over powering, but a gentle hint of orange. When you washing your face the exfoliating beads really does exfoliate your face, and if you did have any makeup underneath, it sure will scrub it clean

Hydrating Mask

Firstly the smell is so heavenly, I love it, i will happily just sit there sniffing it (I know, I’m weird)! The texture is very similar to the brightening mask but it is smoother as there are no tiny beads to exfoliate. I found this a lot more comfortable on my skin, but was concerned it wont be as effective as the brightening mask. But honestly, I was amazed how it left my skin feeling so soft and smooth.

Brightening Mask

The exfoliating beads was a little to harsh for my skin, so my face felt a little sore after washing (I should have been more gentle). I did use it for two weeks, but I didn’t see amazing results. I understand it takes time, but for £14 a tub, I can’t see myself religiously buying it.

Hydrating Mask

I really did want to love the mask as being super hydrating, but honestly I don’t think it hydrated my skin at all. It did leave it super smooth and made my makeup application easier, but I was paying for hydration and I feel it did not do what it was supposed to do, which was disappointing.

Overall my honest review is that I probably wont repurchase the brightening mask as it did not do much for my skin. I am still on the fence with the hydrating mask, as I love the smell and love how it makes my skin super smooth, but honestly I probably would buy it because I would miss it..

Overall I would rate it 3/5
