Get Undressed With ME!!!

YES..Undress your face with me…

One of the most common question I get asked is what is my skin care routine. Especially from my close family and friends who can recall my awful acne years. Yep I had really bad acne on both my cheeks. I wish I had a picture to show you the before and after. I was young, and the acne was so severe, I tried hiding it with makeup, but that only made it worse. So anyone reading, who has acne, DON’T try to cover it with makeup! That’s the first key advice I can give you. Let you skin breathe.

So this post will be about my skin care routine and how I got rid of my acne.

Right, I never really got teenage spots when all my other friends and people in my school got it. I got it later on, around my early 20’s. Not a great time to get acne. I spoke to a lot of people who had acne and did many research, on how to get rid of it. I used so many  different products. But nothing seemed to work.

I eventually found something that did work. I first started by eliminating any harsh, heavy chemical products on my face. At the time i was using Clinique products. I believe it made my skin worse! It did not help at all and it cost a fortune.

Tea Tree Oil & Face Wash

I went back to basic and started using tea tree oil from the body shop (£8). This stuff was much cheaper and effective than the Clinique products. The oil has so many benefits and helps with many different types of conditions, such as Cuts and Scrapes, Acne, Dandruff, chicken pox and even unwanted warts. I obviously used it for acne. One study has found that tea tree oil is as effective as benzoyl pereocide, but without the horrible side effects of redness and peeling. I would use the tea tree oil at night time and dab it only on my spots. By morning the spot will have shrunk have dried out, making it less visible.

My morning routine,  I would use the Tea tree face wash alone, again from the body shop (£5.50). When I first used this I could feel a tingling sensation. I loved it from day one! I think i have used 6 bottles of this face wash over the years! it’s always in my bathroom and travel kit. This has really helped clear skin, it’s not harsh, or full of chemicals and the main reason why I love it more it does not have a strong fragrance. Along with this I originally use to use the matching Toner, but I felt that it was to harsh for me and dried my skin out even more. So after the first week i stopped using it and it was the best decision for me. I think too much tea tree can really dry your skin out.

My Holy Grail and favourite product is my CLARASONIC MIA 2!!!!!!!!!!!

Clarasonic – Mia 2

For those of you who don’t know, the Clarasonic is a facial cleansing brush. The Clarasonic – Mia 2 (£125), is one of the many great products they have, it is gentle yet effective. It is quite an expensive product, but I feel it is worth it as it is a long-term solution for me. But a few of my friends have bought it brand new from eBay for only £45! Bargain! It is exactly the same as mine, only difference is that t comes with an US plug, if you request they can provide a UK adaptor. Simples.

This was a real game changer for me. I hands down believe in this product and highly recommend it to every makeup addict. I never felt my face to be so clean, I use to think after using a face wash, I took all the makeup off, but boy was I wrong! When I use to dry my face afterwards, I could still see a lot of makeup coming off on my towel, so then i would user a cotton pad and a toner to remove what ever makeup is left remaining. But with the Clarasonic, I never experienced this again!! It really takes off all the makeup in a minute.

Key Features & Benefits of the Mia 2

  • It has 2 speeds (Delicate, Universal)
  • Interchangeable facial brush heads, which I tend to change every 4-6 months
  • Rechargeable and fully waterproof handle. No batteries involved!
  • The brush has a frequency of 300 movements per second to help clean the skin deeply.
  • It has been clinically proven to clean the 6x better than hands alone
  • 94% of people have reported softer skin
  • 61% of grater absorption of Vitamin C after use.

Step by step Clarasonic routine

I only use the Clarasonic once a day and that is at night-time. You can use it twice a day, but I personally feel like it too much for my skin. Now I like to cake my face everyday, so taking off all that cake is hard and if I go straight in with my Clarasonic, I feel it ruins the brush head quickly. So I scrub my make up gently with St Ives Apricot Scrub. I rub this gently onto the skin as it can be quite rough. This takes off bulk of the makeup. After washing my face I rub Dettol soap on to the Clarasonic and use the timer to wash my face (20 sec nose and chin, 20 sec forehead, 10 sec each on both cheeks).

Then voila! Clean as a whistle.
